Holiday Experiences Across the Canalway


As the holiday season sets in, communities and organizations across the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area provide a wide variety of experiences and events for residents and visitors to the area to enjoy. Whether it is lights, music, or ice skating, there is a festive event for everyone! Below are some unique and classic featured events to enjoy this holiday season. 

Cleveland Orchestra Holiday Concerts

Described as one of the finest orchestras on Earth, The Cleveland Orchestra provides a joyous musical experience with their Holiday concerts which fill Severance Music Center with the sounds of the season. Kids also have an opportunity to have brunch with Santa while enjoying other festive activities.

Holiday Concerts take place at either 2:30 pm or 7:30 pm on December 13th-23rd, while breakfast with Santa is December 16th-17th and 22nd-23rd.

Frost: An Ice-Capped Garden Experience at the Cleveland Botanical Garden

This completely new holiday event showcases the transformation of the garden’s indoor and outdoor areas into a winter wonderland! Discover brilliant and dazzling light installations, botanical displays, and themed rooms which create an immersive and family friendly festive experience.

Frost is open throughout the entire month of December until the 31st. Normal hours are Tues/Wed 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Thurs-Sat 10:00 am - 9:00 pm, Sun 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Akron Zoo Wild Lights

Wild Lights has come back at the Akron Zoo! This event features a wild light display throughout the Zoo along with opportunities to see Santa, the Grinch, and local high school and organizational choirs. 

Wild Lights runs from 5:00 - 9:00 pm on December 1st-3rd, 8th-10th, 15th-23rd, and 26th-29th.

Deck the Hollow at Quail Hollow Park

Enjoy a festive delight at Quail Hollow Park! Experience decorative trees, lights, festive music, and a self-guided tour through the holiday-decorated Stewart Manor. You can also visit Santa in his workshop for some great photo opportunities!

This event is open from 5:00 - 8:30 pm on December 8th-10th, 15th-17th, & 19th-20th.

Hale Farm and Village Holiday Lantern Tours

Join Hale Farm and Village as they host their 28th season of Holiday Lantern Tours! These lantern-lit walking tours explore the holidays as celebrated by the 19th century Western Reserve. The village museum and store also have opportunities for further learning and novel holiday shopping.

Tours depart every 20 minutes staring at 5:20 pm on December 2nd, 3rd, 8th-10th, 15th-17th, & 20th-23rd.
